Serve At North Church we believe that one of the most important ways we can "be Christian" is to serve our fellow man. It is through helping others that we truly find ourselves and express our faith to our church, our local community, our country, and the world. North Church Thrift Shop: Our thrift shop is an important part of our outreach to Middletown. It provides our neighbors with much needed clothes and housing goods at very low cost. We also often provide free items to those in need, people who have had fires, or are homeless. Hours and opportunities. Food Collections: Year round our Deacons sponsor food drives for different items each month. These are sent to local food pantries. Middletown Warming Center: Many of our members volunteer at the Middletown warming center for the homeless. It is here that those on the street can find shelter from the cold at night in winter. Health Kits for Church World Service: Kits with health supplies are put together each year and sent around the world to people in need. Tanzania Outreach: Our members have donated generously to help students attend school in Tanzania. Crop Walk: Our members are eager to feed the hungry by supported our local CROP walk by walking or sponsoring others in their walk. Free Community Dinners: We at North Church know that it has been a difficult time for many people financially. That is why we have begun to have dinners open to the public that are completely free. Along with these dinners, we provide a variety of wonderful entertainment to make it a complete evening. Christmas Gift and Food Outreach: Each Christmas season, our congregation reaches out through RECAP/Head Start to families in need. We provide gifts for all of the children in these families and food boxes to help with holiday expenses. |
