"God Talk" Continues! We now meet for "God Talk" each Thursday night at Franco DiRoma's Restaurant, 357 Route 211E in Middletown (just behind Rite Aid). This is a weekly Bible study for adults that meets Thursdays at 6:30 for dinner, followed by a lively discussion at 7:30 p.m. around the weekly lectionary readings. Come and join us! If you don't wish to come for dinner, then join us at @ 7:30. If you'd like to be on the email list for God Talk, just send an email request to Barbara at northchurchsec@frontiernet.net or call the church office at 343-6688. Building Research By vote of the congregation at the annual business meeting, it was decided that the Building Research Committee will continue to gather information for consideration of the building sale and relocation of North Church. While this process produces some obvious anxieties and uncertainties for all of us, it is also an opportunity for us to consider the best stewardship of our finances, our assets, our ministry and our future. So we move together prayerfully forward! Haiti Disaster Relief An offering plate is found in the front of our sanctuary for donations for earthquake disaster relief. Each Monday the money is transferred electronically for quick use through the United Church of Christ and One Great Hour of Sharing. If you are unable to donate at the church, you may also do so by visiting the home page at www.ucc.org and clicking on the link. | | North Church is now Open and Affirming By unanimous congregational vote, North Church is now an Open and Affirming church in the UCC. Included in this action is the following statement: "North Church welcomes all people as full partners in ministry regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, faith background, nationality, ethnicity, marital status, physical disability, or any other human condition." Deacon Care The Board of Deacons led by Fay Roberts is working diligently to more fully respond to needs for pastoral care in the church and community. Each member family has been assigned a particular deacon who will serve as a liason between the members, the church, and the pastor. If you do not know who your deacon is, you can call the church office at 845-343-6688 for more information. | | Warming Center Volunteers! The overnight warming center has become one of our most important interfaith activities in the city of Middletown. We are up and running once again at the Orchard Street campus of the United Presbyterian Church. Volunteers are needed to assist the staff of Emergency Housing. If you are unable to volunteer to staff the center, and would be willing to provide a pot of soup for one evening, please contact Rev. David at 343-6688 or email at revdgregory@yahoo.com.
